“As part of our continual sustainability efforts, we invested in solar panels for our Southern California branch,” Bowles added. “Nazdar also invested in additional inkjet printhead jetting test equipment. As for personnel, Nazdar added multiple technicians, customer service, and territory sales managers for all the market segments we work in.”

Comments: As it heads into its second century, Nazdar is coming off of a strong year in 2022, as the company maintains its leadership in the screen and digital ink segments.

“2022 was a strong year for Nazdar, considering the continued logistics issues and marginal economic environment,” said Richard Bowles, Nazdar’s president and CEO. “Similar to previous years, Nazdar strength in producing UV-LED curing inks and coating continues to provide excellent sales and profit.”

Nazdar was founded in 1922, and Bowles noted that the company celebrated its centennial in style, with a company-wide event at their Shawnee, Kansas US headquarters.

A key move occurred when Nazdar brought in Shaun Pan as its chief strategy officer, with the goal of developing and implementing Nazdar’s strategic planning process and marketing activities. “Nazdar added Shaun Pan as chief strategy officer to guide the company to an even brighter future,” Bowles noted.

Comments: A leader in the screen and digital ink fields, Nazdar in celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2022. The company had a strong year in 2021, despite the challenges of COVID, raw materials and the economy.

“Nazdar experienced a robust recovery in sales in 2021, despite COVID, supply chain and labor headwinds,” said Richard Bowles, Nazdar’s president and CEO. “While demand recovered, increased product and production costs created challenges. UV LED products were a highlight and products we manufacture for OEM and private label opportunities.”

Bowles noted that Nazdar’s 100th year celebration was the highlight of the year, as was the closer return to normal business processes after COVID diminished.

“Although there are still lingering effects from the COVID slowdown, Nazdar has seen a return to more of a business-as-usual state,” Bowles observed. “However, logistics and inflation issues are still creating challenges. Raw materials, shipping, and labor issues continue to disrupt business.”

In an important personnel move, Bowles added CEO to his duties in January 2022. Bowles has served as president of Nazdar since January 2018, and joined the company in December 2002 as VP of marketing.

In addition, Jeff Thrall stepped down as president and CEO of Thrall Enterprises (TEI), the parent company of Nazdar, to become executive chairman, with Dan Potts becoming president and CEO at TEI.

“Both Dan and I have every confidence in Nazdar’s continued success under Richard Bowles’ solid and exemplary leadership as president,” Thrall said in announcing the promotion. “We will all continue to work together in various capacities, and I look forward to our continued success in the future.”

Bowles noted that 2022 has started off well for Nazdar.

“Demand remains strong, but inflation, supply chain, and labor issues continue to persist,” he concluded. “Because of Nazdar’s diverse product ranges and adaptive production capabilities, the company has continued to grow even during the struggles of the last few years.”
