HANA RFID Plays Leading Role in the RFID Segment

HANA RFID focuses primarily on RAIN/UHF RFID inlays for retail, logistics, apparel, and supply chain applications, as well as embeddable tire tags.

The use of RFID technologies continues to expand as more applications emerge. The RFID segment continues to experience strong growth, supported by multiple market reports.

For example, Markets and Markets projects the global RFID market to grow from USD $12.61 billion in 2025 to USD $25.24 billion by 2033, at a CAGR of 9.1%. Fortune Business Insights valued the market at USD $15.49 billion in 2024, with forecasts predicting growth to USD $37.71 billion by 2032 at a CAGR of 11.9%. Credence Research estimates growth from approximately USD $14,378 million in 2024 to USD $34,461.82 million by 2032, reflecting a CAGR of 10.2%.

These forecasts confirm broad growth across regions and industries, including retail, logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, and sustainability-driven applications. While adoption speeds differ across geographies and specific markets, RFID’s momentum remains strong, driven by its role in internet of things (IoT) integration, supply chain modernization, and traceability.

Among the leaders in the field of RFID technology is HANA RFID. HANA RFID is a business unit of Hana Technologies, Inc., which is part of the broader HANA Microelectronics group founded in 1978. The group began in Bangkok with LED and watch-module assembly, later expanding into electronics, IC assembly, and other areas.

In 1999, Hana Technologies in the U.S., was established, and RFID became a core division for the company over time. By 2004, HANA RFID had begun producing RFID inlays, followed by the introduction of embeddable RFID tire tags in 2005. These tire tags were specifically designed to endure demanding automotive conditions.

Over the years, HANA RFID scaled its production to billions of inlays and tags annually. More recently, the company has introduced new tire tag and inlay models such as the BRAVA (42×16), MODAL (50×30) and FLEET (70×10), all with multiple IC versions.

The BRAVA, at just 42×16 mm, is an ultra-compact inlay  that’s ARC-certified for Specs R, O, Y2, F, Q, W5, and W6. This makes it the smallest inlay currently qualified under Spec R, one of the most stringent item-level tagging specifications in the RFID industry.

“The Brava is more than just a small inlay—it’s a strategic leap forward and therefore worthy of its name,” said Dr. Jeremy Liu, chief technology officer at Hana RFID. “It embodies our broader vision: to expand our inlay portfolio with precision-engineered designs that speak to your imagination and responds directly to evolving customer needs and compliance frameworks. This is only the beginning.”

Key Markets for HANA RFID

HANA RFID focuses primarily on two major segments: one is the design and manufacturing of RFID inlays for retail, logistics, apparel, and supply chain applications, and the second is the design and manufacturing of embeddable tire tags that provide digital identities for tires across their lifecycle.

RFID has become far more ubiquitous in recent years, with retail leading the adoption based on the various benefits of the technology.

“RFID improves automation and operational efficiency by reducing manual scanning, saving labor, and minimizing shrinkage,” said Val Peters, VP of marketing for HANA RFID. “The technology integrates with IoT ecosystems, supports advanced analytics, and improves visibility across supply chains. It also enables compliance with regulations, supports product recalls, and ensures authenticity. Although challenges such as cost, material interference, and integration remain, RFID delivers stronger data, automation, and efficiency overall, creating clear ROI’s.”

Peters noted that HANA RFID differentiates itself from competitors in several ways.

“Hana has deep expertise in embeddable tire tagging, leading this market for over 20+ years, being certified for lifecycle traceability by major tire manufacturers, including Michelin and Goodyear,” he observed. “We operate large-scale, globally distributed inlay manufacturing facilities that produce billions of tags annually.”

HANA RFID is IC-agnostic, providing flexibility when working with multiple chip suppliers, while HANA RFID maintains strong partnerships with industry leaders such as Impinj and NXP.

“Because Hana’s facilities are ARC Quality Certified, consistent performance and interoperability for our Inlay program is assured on a global scale,” Peters points out. “And with continuous product developments, including recent innovations on more compact inlays such as TX5015 M830 and Brava, we aim to support leading label converters, service bureaus, and system integrators, without the friction of a paper heritage.”

In addition to its latest products, HANA RFID has made some important moves recently. The company has expanded its leadership team by appointing sales directors for Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, together with a new VP of sales. It has also strengthened industry partnerships, becoming an NXP and Impinj Gold Partner, and joining the Auburn University RFID Lab Board.

On the sustainability front, HANA RFID joined the Circular Rubber Platform in 2025, the first RFID company to do so, demonstrating its commitment to circular economy principles and tire lifecycle traceability. The company has also expanded production capacity, producing billions of inlays annually and opening new facilities, such as one in Ohio in 2023. These initiatives highlight HANA RFID’s dual focus on innovation and scalability.

Looking ahead, demand for RFID across retail, logistics, healthcare, and sustainability-driven applications continues to accelerate, and embeddable tire tagging is moving from pilot programs to real, ecosystem-wide deployment.

HANA RFID is positioned to support this growth. Backed by the strength of the HANA Microelectronics Group, a global manufacturing footprint, ARC Quality Certified facilities, and a technology-first, agnostic strategy, the company is prepared for further investment in capacity, automation, and global scale.

With a solid organizational structure, expanded leadership team, and long-term commitment to the ecosystem, HANA RFID stands ready to meet rapidly increasing demand, not as a follower of market growth, but as a stable and scalable infrastructure partner enabling it.
