SEMI announced that the SEMI North American Advisory Board (NAAB) presented the SEMI Americas Government Leadership Award to U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.)

This recognizes his support of the domestic semiconductor industry. SEMI Americas President Joe Stockunas gave the award to Senator Young at a reception on March 4 at the U.S. Capitol during the SEMI Washington Fly-In.

“Senator Young’s advocacy has fueled more than $2 billion in publicly announced investments in his home state of Indiana through the CHIPS and Science Act,” said Joe Stockunas, President of SEMI Americas. “By reaching across the aisle and championing federal support for advanced technology supply chains, Senator Young has helped ensure that semiconductors remain at the core of America’s national and economic security.”

“Senator Young has been a pivotal leader in the implementation of the CHIPS Act,” said Royal Kastens, Vice President, Global Public Policy and Advocacy. “Thanks to his vision and bipartisan efforts, the CHIPS Act is driving crucial investments, streamlining permitting processes for manufacturing facilities and related infrastructure, and fostering regional partnerships that power microchip innovation. Senator Young’s leadership has been instrumental in removing barriers and accelerating advanced manufacturing across the nation.”

The members of the SEMI NAAB select Government Leadership Award honorees based on their impact on policies and incentives to bolster semiconductor design and manufacturing in the SEMI Americas region and advance the growth of the global industry.

SEMI members participate in the annual SEMI Washington Fly-In, which brings together stakeholders from across the supply chain to advocate directly with lawmakers in Congress and help shape the policy priorities that matter most to the semiconductor industry.
