The Ross DPM-150 Double Planetary Mixer is designed for high-volume production in hazardous locations.

A well-proven tool for robust mixing of high-viscosity materials, the ROSS Double Planetary Mixer delivers exceptional performance through its unique agitation system and adaptability, while meeting explosion-proof requirements.
The ROSS Model DPM-150 is a heavy-duty mixer that can process formulations ranging from 20 to 150 gallons, with viscosities exceeding 6 million centipoise. It is one of several ROSS production models serving thousands of pharmaceutical, aerospace, adhesives, sealants, composites, and specialty chemical manufacturing plants around the world.
Built for installation in a Class I, Division 1 and Class II, Division 1 hazardous locations, the DPM-150 features stainless steel type 304 wetted parts polished to a 220-grit finish, vacuum mixing capability up to 29.5″Hg, and interchangeable mix cans for increased productivity.
Two High Viscosity “HV” stirrer blades with bottom crossbar operate with a highly efficient planetary motion, driven by a 40 HP motor. Variable speed control enables orbital speeds of 6-25 rpm while simultaneously rotating the stirrers at 7-27 rpm on their own axes. The blades were X-ray analyzed to ensure structural integrity, welds and product contact surfaces were tested with dye penetrant.
The reverse lift system features a stationary upper structure with motorized hydraulic lift that raises the mix can to the mixing position, providing approximately 36″ clearance between casters and floor when fully elevated. The safety system includes automatic speed reduction to 6 inches per minute when the bowl approaches the vacuum hood interface.
The mix can each include a heating/cooling baffled jacket rated for 50 PSIG, sidewall-mounted thermocouple, and fully flush 6” “Y” discharge valve (no dead space).
The fabricated stainless steel planetary gearbox incorporates mechanical seals on stirrer shafts with split seal design on the main shaft and includes a torque limiter with proximity switch protection to prevent mechanical overload.
The vacuum hood features multiple sanitary ports for viewing, vacuum exhaust, nitrogen connection, and raw material additions. Intrinsically safe proximity switches prevent drive operation when the mix can is not in the proper raised mixing position.
