Flint Group Launches Flexocure LEAP

Flint Group takes leap in solving migration challenge in UV printing of food contact materials.

Flint Group launches Flexocure LEAP, a new range of UV inks. These inks help converters seamlessly adapt to changing migration compliance requirements. This represents a breakthrough in ink technology development for the global UV flexo printing industry.

Flexocure LEAP is built on an entirely new resin system. It is designed to significantly reduce the risk of photoinitiator (PI) migration in food packaging. This ground-breaking UV Hg curing technology safeguards food packaging by stabilizing PI compounds. It also minimizes migration, and ensures stringent regulatory compliance.

“This is truly a market breakthrough in the safe and compliant printing of materials designed for the packaging of food and sensitive goods,” says Marc Heylen, senior director narrow web R&D & technology at Flint Group. “As regulatory requirements continue to evolve, impacting not only ink and coating formulations but also the final printed package, the industry must adopt safer, future-ready solutions. Flint Group is investing in extensive research and development, and the result is that we are delivering robust technologies that meet these shifting demands, which enable us to support converters in maintaining long-term compliance and performance.

“Flexocure LEAP marks a bold leap forward for the narrow web sector, offering unmatched compliance with the latest UV safety regulations while anticipating future legislative shifts. With this cutting-edge technology, Flint Group is not just keeping pace with evolving demands; we’re setting a new standard for food contact material compliance. This innovation delivers more than just a cure, it empowers converters with confidence, safety, and a competitive edge in every print run.”

Key Advantages

Because of its revolutionary chemistry, Flexocure LEAP provides a tangible advantage. It simplifies migration testing requirements. This results in greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness for converters, while maintaining the highest levels of compliance and safety.

Flexocure LEAP is designed specifically to address migration risk in indirect food packaging – even on challenging substrates, such as polyethylene (PE). Flexocure LEAP exceeds industry standards and offers complete versatility across a wide range of label and packaging printing applications. Engineered for exceptional print quality and performance, it delivers high curing speed, strong color strength, excellent adhesion, and outstanding press performance.

“At Flint Group, we are committed to providing cutting-edge solutions that offer converters greater business stability,” Paul Winstanley, VP technology and product management, adds. “Regulations are always evolving, and optimized inks like Flexocure LEAP make it easier to meet regulatory challenges.

“This new range represents a major milestone – an exciting next chapter that reinforces our expertise and leadership in UV ink innovation and regulatory excellence. It’s a bold step forward for Flint Group, and even better news for our customers and the industry at large.”

Flexocure LEAP will be launched first in Europe, with plans for further global rollout to follow.
