Founded in 1945 as Korea’s first ink manufacturer, DEERS I (formerly DAIHAN INK) has celebrated its 80th anniversary by becoming the first company in the Korean offset ink industry to obtain Halal certification. This certification further solidifies DEERS I’s position in more than 40 countries worldwide, particularly in Arab and Muslim markets.

For 80 years, DEERS I has been a pioneer in Korea’s ink industry, focusing on technological innovation and quality improvement. The company produces a diverse range of products – including offset ink, UV ink, metal decoration ink and coating, water-based coating, and eco-friendly inks – supplying both the domestic and global markets.

This Halal certification officially recognizes that a total of 105 products, including flagship lines such as SOLFREE, PLUS KEENTEC, ULTRA, and PRIDE-50, are manufactured with ingredients and processes compliant with Islamic law (Shariah).

DEERS I has also obtained the USDA certification in the United States, demonstrating its continued commitment to international standards of quality and systems. By leveraging export-support programs, the company is working to ensure that such certifications translate into tangible export achievements. With this new Halal certification, DEERS I plans to expand its customer base and partnerships in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South Asia.

“This Halal certification is a significant milestone that strengthens DEERS I’s international credibility,” CEO JM Oh says. “We will continue to uphold quality, eco-friendliness, and sustainability as our core values to lead global standards in the ink industry.”

Since its founding in 1945, DEERS I has built a reputation for innovation and quality in the domestic and international printing markets. Today, the company exports to more than 40 countries and maintains a strong presence in Muslim-majority markets.
