Flint Group Reaffirms AQUACode Readiness for German Ink Ordinance

Flint Group reaffirms that its AQUACode series of water-based inks and coatings, manufactured in Europe, is compliant with the composition requirements of the 21st Regulation amending the German Consumer Goods Regulation, known as the German Printing Ink Regulation (GIO).

Flint Group advises converters striving for compliance that this bulletin covers its water-based flexographic inks and coatings that are designed for printing on the non-food contact side of food contact materials.

AQUACode inks have been developed in accordance with Swiss Ordinance 817.023.21 and formulated using only evaluated substances listed in Annex 10 or 2. This proactive design approach meant that the series could be easily adapted to the compositional requirements of the GIO, which comes into full effect on Jan. 1, 2026, mandating specific compliance requirements for printing inks used on food contact materials.In accordance with EU regulations, the organization placing the food contact material on the market should assess its suitability for the intended
